The Update about Gen Con, Part Three
over 5 years ago – Tue, Aug 07, 2018 at 05:27:31 PM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

The Atlas Gang is back from a successful Gen Con and that means we're back to the grindstone. While we were at the show we hit our $100,000 Poster Map stretch goal and unlocked both issues 1 and 2 of Edgeworks thanks to numerous retweets and Facebook likes. Thank you for your social media support!

THE VIDEO: OTE LIVE STREAM

Our friends at Twitch have archived the video of our Thursday night livestream event featuring Al Amarjan tour guide and scribe Jonathan Tweet, art director James Mosingo, Dusk City Outlaws designer Rodney Thompson, editor Jaym Gates, and Atlas Games co-owner Michelle Nephew. It's a two-hour long recording that includes character creation and the Novemberfest scenario prepared specifically for this event.

THE PREVIEW: OTE PANEL

An intimate gathering of hardcore OTE fans met with Jonathan and I on Friday at Gen Con to talk all things Al Amarja, and it ended up as a secret cabal initiating a new member. Character creation postcards were shared around, and a secret preview of the game was released... which is now available to anyone. Check it out here.

NEXT UP: SOUNDS FROM THE EDGE

Our next mighty stretch goal is for the $110,000 level, and that's James Semple's soundscape production of Sounds from the Edge. If we unlock this, everyone gets it, so it's not just an update to an existing print book or an add-on. We can't wait to set James loose in the districts of the Edge and produce something inspirational and theme-setting for all of you.

Until we escape the Terminal and praise our hidden masters, this has been...

The Update about Gen Con, Part Two
over 5 years ago – Mon, Aug 06, 2018 at 09:10:23 PM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

We've had a busy week at the nation's biggest tabletop geek convention, Gen Con, and it's only Saturday afternoon, but it felt like a good time for an update.

Poster Map Imminent!

With only a few hundred dollars until the $100,000 mark, we're almost at the point where the full color poster map of Al Amarja with its flip-side metro station map get unlocked and made available to all of you. Core Luxe backers get a poster map included in all of their books! Core Print backers can add the poster map for $10 plus shipping! We don't believe in just giving you a pretty illustration, we want to make this a helpful tool for your Over the Edge games, and it's added value to anyone who's pledging at the Luxe levels.

Edgeworks Vol 1 and Vol 2!

We'd talked about Edgeworks and Twitter in the last update. We only need a few more retweets and it gets added to your pledges for no additional cost. But we're not stopping there. If you visit our Facebook page and WOW, LOVE, or LIKE our Edgeworks post that's there, we'll release the second volume to all of you, as well. We think 50 likes is enough for that, don't you? (Shares of the post also count.)

Livestream Update!

We're going to be getting hold of the video of the Twitch livestream of the Gen Con TV Over the Edge game that Jonathan ran on Thursday night, so all of you can see how he guides the hapless celebrity panel to their doom at Novemberfest. See Sad Mary's Bar and Girl! See androids! See stupid American luck meet nihilist psychics! See a banjo playing bodyguard and a semi-telepathic detective! It was a great time and we can't wait to show you. Stay tuned for that link.

Until our crab-like overlords decree that we are permitted to leave, we are...

The Update about Nostalgic Add-Ons
over 5 years ago – Sat, Aug 04, 2018 at 08:36:55 PM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

Many of you recall fondly your time on the island, or at least you say you do, and we believe you. We also believe it's fun to revisit old haunts, dust off old books, and drag out old boxes of cards and memorabilia. So that's what we're talking about in today's update.

D'Aubainne University Archivist Tier

This is a special single-backer pledge tier similar to the one with the handcrafted table, only this time the artifact is the original, camera-ready copy of Over the Edge (1992) with certificate of authenticity, bundled together with the Core Digital, Luxe, and Retro Pack. Yes, you can own a genuine relic of pre-digital printing, lovingly assembled and pasted together for film by Atlas Games staff over 25 years ago.

We're launching this pledge tier later this afternoon, so watch for that!

On the Edge Card Game Bundle

Eye See You
Eye See You

It seems as if there's some interest in On the Edge, the collectible card game of Al Amarja that gained a cult following in the 90s. We've unearthed copies of booster display boxes and starter decks and have assembled what we believe to be the perfect bundle of On the Edge for the discerning island tourist.

For $60 extra plus postage, we'll send the following:

  • 2 x On the Edge starter decks
  • 1 x Cut-Ups display box (60 boosters)
  • 1 x Shadows display box (60 boosters)
  • 1 x Arcana display box (60 boosters)

Ships separately from the rulebook. Please add $14 for USA, $46 for Canada, and $70 for everywhere else in the world. You can increase your pledge by the total cost ($60 + shipping) and we'll take care of sending you your On the Edge cards as soon as we can after the Kickstarter campaign.

Until the Movers silence the Sommerites, we are:

The Update about Gen Con, Edgeworks, and Art
over 5 years ago – Sat, Aug 04, 2018 at 08:31:26 PM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

The Atlas Gang is here at Gen Con 2018 in Indianapolis this week, offering our wares at booth 1407 in the dealer hall. Even if you're not going to be at the convention, we have some glimpses of the island for you while we're here.

Gen Con TV Live-Streaming Event!

On Thursday at 4pm until 6pm the D'Aubainne University is proudly commandeering the Gen Con Twitch stream for a live broadcast of noted Al Amarja expert and writer, Jonathan Tweet, as he runs a game of Over the Edge for four "celebrity guests." We encourage you to tune in or even show up in person to this performance, cheer on the participants or heckle their misfortunes.

You can find out more details about this event here. We suspect the event will be recorded for posterity, but live viewing is always much appreciated.

Edgeworks Social Ransom Goal!

If you're one of our many Twitter followers (@atlasgames), you might be interested in something we're doing on that platform. We're posting a tweet about Edgeworks, the fan-created third-party Over the Edge zine that was published back in the 90s. If we get 100 retweets on that tweet, we'll make the first volume of Edgeworks in PDF format available to EVERY backer whose pledge includes the Core Digital edition. So follow Atlas Games on Twitter, retweet the Edgeworks tweet, and let's see if we can bring Edgeworks back from the clutches of the Movers!

And Now, Some New Art

We've got artists working hard on illustrating the new edition of the game, and already we've seen some great concept art. Here's a selection of that art as a preview - more is coming!

The Update about Music Stretch Goals
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jul 27, 2018 at 12:29:09 PM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

Thanks to the generous support of over 1400 of you, we've cleared the $90,000 stretch goal. Now, everyone whose pledge includes the Core Digital book also gets Forgotten Lives, the scenario anthology. So what's next?

New Stretch Goal: Sounds from the Edge

We're thrilled to announce that composer to the tabletop stars James Semple has agreed to craft the soundtrack to Al Amarja and, in turn, to your game table.

If we reach $110,000 in this campaign, fifteen minutes of weird, urban, and dangerous music is added to every backer from the $20 level up.

That's right! If you've paid any attention to the auditory reality of RPGs in this decade you've already heard some of James' work - most recently for us, the soundtrack to Unknown Armies 3rd edition.

Until we ascend to our final forms,
