Special Ops: We Have a Mission for You, Agent
about 5 years ago – Thu, Feb 07, 2019 at 08:37:58 PM

We know the printed book isn’t even out yet, but we hope you’re completely enthralled with your pre-release Over the Edge PDFs. If you’re raring at the bit and loosening your nooses at the thought of running your first session in Al Amarja, then we’re hoping you’d like to share a little of that passion with other fans by signing up to become an inaugural member of Special Ops.

As a member of Special Ops you’ll gain exclusive access to scenarios, early release material, playtests, events, and more. Plus, every mission you complete as a member of Special Ops – running demo games, helping with community outreach, supporting new players – will earn you Hazard Pay, which you’ll eventually be able to use at the Special Ops Black Market.

The Special Ops program will also cover our other award-winning RPGs like Feng Shui, Unknown Armies, and Ars Magica. So no matter what game you’re interested in running, you should fill out and submit our Special Ops Application ASAP.

Those interested in joining Special Ops must be:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, patient, and outgoing personality
  • Familiar with an Atlas Games RPG (preferably all of them!)
  • Able to read and follow written directions
  • Able to submit written reports and feedback
  • Able to communicate with Atlas Games HQ via the internet
  • Able to provide your own operations budget (including but not limited to: materials, lodging, meals, transportation, etc.)
  • And a burning desire to share games with others!

Special Ops is an all-volunteer corps. If you’re ready to take the leap, sign up NOW!

The Update About Print, Digital, and Dice News
about 5 years ago – Thu, Jan 31, 2019 at 12:27:02 AM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

Press Files

Thanks to everyone who contributed feedback on the OTE rulebook preview PDF. We're proud to say we've sent the files off to our printer and the book is all the better for those comments and corrections.

Digital Editions

Meanwhile, plucky graphic designer Thomas Deeny has been working on the digital editions of the rulebook. That's a tablet-ready PDF with links and smooth graphic placement, and an ePub version suited for e-readers. Those files are being proofread as we speak, or rather, stress tested by Atlas staff in the frozen Midwest. Oh to be back on the sunny shores of Al Amarja!

Dice

Even more meanwhile, our OTE custom dice have shipped out to our fulfilment centers and will eventually make their way to you. As you recall, we plan on shipping these separately to ensure that the printed books are mailed at the best rates around the world. I'll update you when there's more news on when to expect your lots.

That's it for now. Don't forget that we love to hear from you and see your posts on social media. If you're currently playing Over the Edge, send us a link to your actual play videos, blogs, or tweet about it and tag us in! We're @atlasgames and we're not shy about retweets.

Peace,

Cam and the Atlas Gang

The Update About the Advance Rulebook Preview
over 5 years ago – Wed, Jan 09, 2019 at 01:26:56 AM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

Yes, the moment has come: we are proud to share a PDF of the Over the Edge RPG book interior with you, in advance of sending the book to press.

This has been distributed via BackerKit to everyone who has "Core Digital" in their Kickstarter backer rewards, which is almost everyone. If by some chance you don't get the PDF, shoot us a note at crowdfund AT atlas-games DOT com, or send us a Message via Kickstarter and let us know. Before you do, as always, check your spam folders!

As this is not yet the absolute final version, the printed version may change as we find last-minute typos. If you're reading this in the next 48 hours and see any problems with the text or some kind of bizarre layout mistake, send us the corrections and we'll adjust reality to suit. Thanks in advance!

Enjoy the book, you deserve it!

The Update about the Good Tunes
over 5 years ago – Fri, Dec 21, 2018 at 01:32:53 AM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

Many of you have already opened your inboxes to see notifications of new downloads from the Over the Edge BackerKit. No, this isn't the PDF of the rulebook! Instead, it's James Semple's three music EPs, collectively titled Sounds from the Edge.

James drew upon a number of influences for these amazing and moody soundtrack pieces, from North African instruments to 70s James Bond movie soundtracks, from hard rock to EDM. The result are three thematic albums that embrace Over the Edge's weird urban danger. Specifically, they align with the D'Aubainne siblings: Jean-Christophe (URBAN), Sir Constance (DANGER), and Sister Cheryl (WEIRD).

The book itself is being proofread by our eagle-eyed staff and we plan on sending out PDFs of the core rulebook to backers in a couple of weeks or so, mostly because of the holiday break. We're excited to share that with you but we're also serious about catching as many errors and typos as we can before you see the book for the first time.

If we don't hear from you on social media before we next update you, enjoy a highly pleasant end-of-year festive season in whatever manner you and your families or friends celebrate it.

Jingle all the weigh,

The Update About the Poster Map Preview
over 5 years ago – Wed, Nov 28, 2018 at 01:43:50 AM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

I'm just dropping in another update with a sneak peek at the fabulous full-cover two-sided poster map that many of you are eagerly awaiting next spring. Our artist Axel Ortiz has past experience working on those theme park style maps that exaggerate certain features and look delightful, and we're very happy with how this turned out along those lines.

Here's a small section of it as a teaser.

I hope that wets your whistles a little. I hope next time to have a little of James Semple's fantastic soundtrack to play for you... after I make a little international trip of my own. Fear not! We'll continue to update all of you on the progress of the book and other accessories as they come to hand until the time that we ship things out to you!

Peace and cartography,
Cam and the Atlas Gang
