The Update About the End of the Tunnel
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Jun 06, 2019 at 03:04:54 AM

In the middle of the night (United States time), our trackers indicate that orders began to fulfill from our international fulfillment company! Many have already shipped and hundreds more are marked out for pick & pack (which means they should soon be handed off to the many varied couriers used to deliver them all over the globe).

We’re currently in the process of getting more details about exactly what their fulfillment timeline is and there are some other outstanding issues (like getting tracking numbers in a format that lets us efficiently update your Backerkit accounts with the information), but it looks like we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel on this one and we wanted to let you know ASAP.

We’ll keep you updated as more information comes in. And we’d like to thank everyone for their patience with this very frustrating delay.

Now that your tickets have been verified, the Al Amarjan Tourist Taskforce hopes you will enjoy your stay on the Island.

Thank you! Good gaming!

The Update About International Frustration
almost 5 years ago – Thu, May 30, 2019 at 02:00:37 AM

We know our international backers have been looking for answers about their books and posters and dice. The reason this update took a few extra days was because we, too, were looking for those answers.

And I'd like to report that we found those answers, but that's not yet true.

Here's what's going on:

  • Before the books, dice, and other items arrived, we sent our international fulfillment company $10,000 as a credit against the shipping and fulfillment costs.
  • Once the books arrived, we broke down our fulfillment order in order to minimize VAT and other costs (as summarized in previous updates).
  • This caused some confusion and a little bit of haggling to work out the details. That chewed up some time, but not so much that we were concerned.
  • At the end of that process we said, "Great! Go!" And they said, "Sure. Give us the $10,000 up front payment and we'll get going!"

And now we were concerned.

What we seem to have figured out is that they created an internal fulfillment job for the "don't care about VAT, ship it all in one big heap" plan and credited our payment of $10,000 to that job. The new "let's talk about VAT" plan caused them to create a new "job" internally (presumably because it was easier than altering their original plan), but the $10,000 payment didn't get properly transferred to the new job.

At the present moment, we are uncertain why our fulfillment company is having difficulty getting this straightened out. We're in communication with them, but the time zone differences from Midwest America to Hong Kong do impose some difficulties. At any moment we are expecting them to say, "Okay! All sorted! Shipping has begun!"

But until that happens, we're stuck in the same limbo you are. And we very sincerely apologize for that. As soon as we know more, we will let you know.

Street Date: Several people have seen Over the Edge in their local game stores. And I understand the frustration of seeing books for sale in a store before you get them as a Kickstarter backer. Why have we shipped books to them before we shipped books to you?

Let me explain how this happened.

First, they're breaking street date. The book is not supposed to be sold to the public until June 1st. There are a lot of reasons why this may be true, and many of them have nothing to do with the store at the end of the distribution chain. If you see books on sale in a store before June 1st, though, please do e-mail us at [email protected] and let us know so that we can investigate.

Second, those books are coming from America. We're shipping to our distributors here and they're shipping the books to Europe. This should not have been a problem because all of our international backers should have had their copies shipped to them at the same time our American backers (and then, after that, American distributors) had their copies shipped to them. Obviously that didn't go according to plan, and by the time we even realized the international fulfillment was going to be significantly delayed the American fulfillment had been completed.

It's very, very frustrating to us that this didn't go according to plan. And we know it's even more frustrating for you. Thank you for your patience with us while we continue working to get it straightened out.

US Backers: All US backers have had their rewards shipped to them!

We've had a few people who had purchased the map of the Edge as an add-on item contact us because they didn't receive their maps: For US orders, maps were placed inside the books in order to keep them safe during shipping

(The non-deluxe version of the book does not include a map. So if you ordered a non-deluxe version of the book and an add-on map, there will be only one map in there -- the one you added on.)

If you look inside your books and your add-on map isn't there (or if any other items are missing from your order), please contact us at [email protected] and we'll get things sorted out.

The Update About Shipping
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 18, 2019 at 02:30:03 AM

Here is one of the shipping workstations in our US warehouse. We have been informed that the strange glyphs decorating the wall are almost certainly not subliminal Stitch propaganda drawn from the subconscious recesses of our workers' minds. (We keep our supply of psychic paper in a different room next to the On the Edge cards.)

Hopefully everyone can join us in giving a big Thank You! to the extra workers who are helping to get your books out to you ASAP.

US Shipping: Continues apace. Most US backers will have received notification that shipping had begun when we printed out all of our labels (you can see one of the huge rolls of shipping labels in the right side of the picture above). USPS picks up the books daily, so once your book is actually wrapped in its protective sheath of cardboard (which is definitely not laced with nanobots which will infest your house and allow the D'Aubainnes to track your movements), it will generally be less than 24 hours before you'll start receiving active tracking data.

Worldwide Shipping: Unfortunately, it takes things a little longer to kick off overseas as we wait for our slot to open in our international fulfillment company's schedule. Tracking information will be available once your books ship (they won't just mysteriously materialize on your doorstep, as we were unable to afford the expensive cost of the Red Orca Shipping Company's experimental teleportation service). We'll also be posting an update as soon as we've gotten confirmation from the fulfillment center that shipping has begun.

The Update Where We Wait for the Books
almost 5 years ago – Tue, May 07, 2019 at 03:11:37 AM

This will be a very quick update, but we wanted to let you know how things have been progressing.

US Backers: We're still waiting for most of the books to arrive at our warehouse. This isn't a surprise. As we mentioned in our last update, we're expecting these to arrive in late May. We have extra people scheduled and we should be immediately turning those around and shipping them out to you.

International Backers: Your books and dice arrived at Floship, our international fulfillment company, last week on schedule. Their turn around is slower than ours, in part because we're still working out the country-by-country details on shipping to make sure we get the best option (in time, money, etc.) as possible.

Fill Out Your Surveys. We still have a number of backers who haven’t filled out their surveys. It’s very important that you do so ASAP, as we can’t ship you this awesome game until you’ve verified your information and finalized your order on Backerkit.
