Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Update Where the Books Ambush the Warehouse
almost 5 years ago – Mon, May 06, 2019 at 09:57:30 PM

Literally mere hours after I wrote that we were patiently waiting for the books to arrive, we were surprised by a truck pulling up! Over the Edge has officially arrived at our US warehouse.

Travis, our logistics maven, is currently working his voodoo to bring all hands on deck next week to begin processing and shipping books to US backers. We'll have additional updates throughout that process, as well as updates for the international backers as soon as their orders begin shipping.

This leads us to a very important announcement:

Update Your Address by Thursday! We will be locking US addresses in Backerkit this Thursday and printing delivery slips. If you need to update your address you MUST do so before Thursday CDT!

The Update About the Last Leg
about 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 16, 2019 at 02:58:01 AM

These copies of the regular and ‘luxe editions of Over the Edge third edition have been air-shipped to us from China for final approval. We’ve given that approval, and that means we’ve entered the last leg.

Let’s start with the bad news: After the Kickstarter ended, we decided it would be super-awesome if we added foil-edging to the ‘luxe editions of the book as a special bonus. So we did that and on the book-dummies it looked great, and we’re pretty sure we mentioned it in an update at some point. You may have also spotted the foil-edging when we posted images of the dummy copies.

But when the printer went to add the foil-edging to the actual books (as opposed to the dummy copies with blank pages), the process caused the full-bleed ink on the edges of the page to catch on fire. We suspected a Mover conspiracy, but it appears to just be the laws of physics plotting against us. As you can see in the picture above, the 'luxe edition has all the awesome features promised in the Kickstarter, but it won't have the foil-edging.

Now for the good news:

The Dice

  • All US dice have shipped. You probably already have them in your hands by now.
  • If you’re an international backer and you ordered ONLY the dice, all of those orders have shipped.
  • If you’re an international backer and you ordered dice AND books, then the dice will ship with your books (see below). There are a few exceptions to this (based on VAT or other customs fees) where the dice have shipped separately in order to save you money. Basically, we’re identifying whatever the best and most affordable method of shipping is and using that (and there’s a lot of local variation in this).

Books

As I write this, half of our books are sitting on a dock in Hong Kong (or possibly already on the boat). The other half are on their way to Floship, our international fulfillment company.

International Backers: The books heading to Floship will arrive within the next 14 days, and we’re expecting your orders to almost immediately begin shipping out.

US Backers: Your books need to travel by boat to Chicago and then shipped up to us in Minnesota. Arrival at our warehouse is scheduled for late May. We’ve already scheduled the extra workers we need to rapidly process that shipment and get your orders sent out ASAP.

Fill Out Your Surveys. We still have a number of backers who haven’t filled out their surveys. It’s very important that you do so ASAP, as we can’t ship you this awesome game until you’ve verified your information and finalized your order on Backerkit.

DriveThruRPG Codes

Shortly after posting this update, we’ll begin processing DriveThruRPG redemption codes for everyone who ordered a digital copy of the core book. These can take significant amounts of time to process, but everyone should have their codes by tomorrow.

You'll still be able to download your copies from Backerkit, of course. This is for everyone who uses DriveThruRPG and wants to be able to manage their PDFs in one place.

Thanks for your support!

The Update about Gloom
about 5 years ago – Fri, Apr 05, 2019 at 05:01:42 PM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

It's a sunny, warm Friday on the island, but today, we're lost in the Umpteen Kingdoms of Eastereg. From the frozen lands of the Snarks to the intrigue-plagued domain of the Bannisters, one truth echoes: Gloom is coming...

That's right, we're crowdfunding a parody mash-up game of the bestselling Gloom (by RPG author Keith Baker) and Game of Thrones. We'd love for you to stop in and check it out here.

The goal of the game is sad, but simple: each player wants their characters to suffer the greatest tragedies possible before passing on to the well-deserved respite of death. As characters seek a moment of respite on the Porcelain Throne, the player’s goal is to plague them with horrible mishaps while filling the lives of the opponents’ families with happy events that will raise their Self-Worth score. The player with the lowest-scoring, most tragedy-afflicted family wins!

Gloom of Thrones will be Kickstarting until April 29th. If you have a moment to spread the word, it would be most appreciated.

Thank you for your ongoing support--Atlas Games loves you!

P.S. Stay tuned for another update (this time from Al Amarja) very soon.

The Update About Where the Dice Are
about 5 years ago – Tue, Feb 26, 2019 at 12:38:41 AM

Ciao ciao, Martians!

First of all, from the sunny shores of Al Amarja, we extend our deepest sympathies to those of you struggling with wintery conditions in those northernmost climes. We do get some nasty rain storms down here and occasionally our power flickers on and off in odd, disturbing ways, but a few in the Al Amarjan Tourist Board office suspect that’s more to do with the old lady conducting experiments in the building next door than it is anything climate related.

Where’s My Dice?

The short answer is: they’re on a boat!

The long answer is that we’ve got a new estimate on our delivery date for the OTE dice sets, and it’s March 12th. We apologize for jumping the gun on our earlier expectation of shipping dice out in February, but now that we’ve got proper confirmation we can say with some confidence that almost all of your dice will get shipped out soon after those dice land at our North American warehouse. We'll post a new update letting you know when that happens, and how tracking works.

How Many Digital Editions Are There?

As is sometimes the case, we’ve been having to update our PDF files to fix a couple of post-production issues. The first of these was some sideways pages that were making some PDF readers freak out and re-size the view, so we’re taking care of that. The second is that in the process of adapting the print layout to the PDF layout, one or two art pieces needed to be resized or trimmed, and we’re adjusting those. This means you’re going to get another email soon that includes a link to your BackerKit account with what we hope is that last update to the digital edition.

Peace,

The Update about Digital Edition!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Feb 13, 2019 at 12:45:30 AM

Ciao ciao Martians!

It's mid-February so that means it's time for a new update and this one's a big one: we're launching the Over the Edge digital edition, and you're first in line.

Digital Edition v1

Yes, this is the electronic book of the Over the Edge rulebook, with all of the corrections, full features, and formats you'd need. Not only do we have three file versions for you, but we've included the poster map as a file and the handouts from the back of the book in an easy to share format for your players.

  • Over the Edge Digital Edition PDF!
  • Over the Edge Digital Edition ePub!
  • Over the Edge Digital Edition MOBI!
  • Over the Edge Poster Map!
  • Over the Edge Handouts and Glossary-Index!

Just grab the zipped bundle from your digital downloads folder (a link was sent out to everyone who backed at the digital level and above, or who ordered the PDF on BackerKit), unzip it, and enjoy.

Got Your Dice?

Over the Edge dice sets have been arriving all around the world this past week. Here on Al Amarja's sunny shores we've got our own copies and we're already casting our lots in the dusty streets of Flowers District. Good timing, with the release of the digital edition, we think.

Share Your Al Amarja!

We really do love to see folks sharing their games, their characters, and their ideas for Over the Edge. Tag us into your Twitter threads with @atlasgames, or send us your links on Facebook. We  love reviews and actual play reports - if you're planning to run Over the Edge online, we especially want to hear from you.

Until next time,

Peace!
